New poll reveals public demand for prisoner early releases to be linked to drug testing:
A recent poll commissioned by DrugPatch reveals that the public strongly supports linking early prisoner releases to drug testing. The survey of 2,001 adults found that 90% consider drug testing vital for prisoner rehabilitation, and nearly 78% support round-the-clock drug monitoring in prisons. Importantly, 40% of respondents would be more accepting of early release if it was tied to clean drug test results.

The justice system, under the new Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, is facing pressure to address overcrowded prisons. Thousands of prisoners have been released early, with some serving as little as 40% of their sentences. The government is exploring solutions, including drug monitoring and alternatives such as home tariffs, to tackle the overcrowding crisis.
DrugPatch offers an innovative solution with their Sweat Patch, a round-the-clock drug monitoring device that supports individuals in their recovery journey. The product has already been proven effective in substance abuse courts and recovery programmes in the US, Australia, and New Zealand.
Dr Claire George, DrugPatch’s lead toxicologist, praised the Sweat Patch as a dignified, non-invasive monitoring method that fosters accountability and aids in recovery.
